How we compare

What you are probably using now

Nobody starts with nothing. Most Indian franchise networks run on a spreadsheet and a group chat, some add a CRM, and a few evaluate a global franchise suite. Here is where each one holds up, where it stops, and where we would tell you to keep what you have.

Spreadsheets and WhatsApp

What almost every Indian network under fifty outlets actually runs on today.

What it is good at

  • Free, familiar, and available to everyone from day one
  • Infinitely flexible — a new column costs nothing
  • Everyone already has the app and answers on it

Where it stops

  • One person owns the file, so the pipeline stops when they do
  • A message thread has no owner, no due date and no history you can query
  • Royalty computed by hand produces a number the franchisee cannot check
  • Nothing links: the lead, the outlet, the agreement and the invoice never meet

What FranOpero does instead

The same flexibility where it belongs — your stages, your fee types, your checklists — over records that connect. The chat does not disappear; requests that need an owner become work items instead of scrollback.

A generic CRM

Salesforce, Zoho or HubSpot, with franchise words typed into custom fields.

What it is good at

  • Excellent at the part it was built for: a sales pipeline
  • Mature, well documented, with a large integration ecosystem
  • Customisable enough to model almost anything, given time and a consultant

Where it stops

  • A franchisee is not a closed deal — the relationship starts at signature and runs for years
  • Royalty, ad fund and TDS are not CRM concepts, so they become spreadsheets beside the CRM
  • Two-sided matching (investor ↔ brand) has no home in a one-sided pipeline
  • The outlet has no seat: your franchisees are not CRM users, and licensing them is absurd

What FranOpero does instead

The lead is the spine, and everything after signature — outlet, opening, royalty, audits, compliance — is a facet of that same record rather than a separate system.

A global franchise suite

Enterprise franchise-management platforms built for US and international networks.

What it is good at

  • Deep, proven franchise feature sets built over decades
  • Strong where large multi-country networks need governance at scale
  • Established practices for franchise development and field operations

Where it stops

  • Indian tax is modelled as formatting: GST on the invoice and TDS deducted by the franchisee are structural, not cosmetic
  • Pricing and implementation are built for networks with hundreds of units, not a brand opening its eleventh
  • Lakh and crore, Devanagari on documents, and WhatsApp as the default channel are afterthoughts
  • The master-franchise structure common in India — collect from units, remit up a level — is rarely first-class

What FranOpero does instead

India-native by construction: GST invoicing under Rule 46, TDS credit ledgers, two-tier master-franchise clearing, ₹ in lakh and crore, and an implementation sized for a brand opening its eleventh outlet rather than its five hundredth.

The honest half

When we are not the right answer

Buying the wrong software is expensive, and finding out six weeks in is worse. These are the cases where we would rather you knew now.

You need a POS or a till

FranOpero records a declared trading day and reconciles against your POS export. It is deliberately not the till.

You are in the e-invoicing (IRN) net

Invoice registration with the IRP is not supported today. If your turnover requires it, raise that with us before you buy.

You audit outlets without signal

Visits are captured online. Offline field capture is a known gap rather than a shipped feature.

You are a single outlet with no franchisor

The whole model assumes a network — a brand and units in a relationship. One independent shop will be paying for structure it does not have.

You want the software to hold your money

Royalty and fees clear through your own payment accounts. We are a software company and stay one; the rails are yours.

Compare it against your own network

Price it on the pricing page, or walk the chain module by module — both are on this site, without a call.
